Dr James Hatch, AIE Trustee, Ireland
Dr James M. Hatch is an educator, school leader, researcher, and writer with more than thirty years of experience across Ireland, Canada, Japan, and international schools worldwide. He has served in a range of leadership positions including Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, and Head of Department, working extensively with national and international curricula, including the International Baccalaureate. James holds degrees in History, Education, and Educational Leadership, including a Doctor of Education. Following many years working internationally, he recently returned to Ireland and currently teaches English and History at Newtown School, Waterford. He also serves as Assistant Principal II with responsibility for Senior Cycle Reform, supporting the implementation of curriculum and assessment developments associated with Ireland’s evolving Leaving Certificate. His professional interests include assessment and reporting, curriculum development, educational leadership, inclusion, teacher professional learning, and the relationship between education and culture. He continues to contribute to educational research, curriculum innovation, and professional development both within Ireland and internationally. A long-standing member of AIE, James is committed to supporting globally minded education and fostering meaningful connections between educators working across diverse educational contexts.
