Overview

The AIE Conference theme focused on connecting cultures through understanding, and the conference provided many opportunities for visitors and locals to mix and learn a lot about each other. The conference was attended not only by many educators from around the globe, but also by a number of representatives from the local Turkish Ministry of Education, as well as many Turkish teachers from state and private schools.

Many other visitors from all over the world added to the wonderful mix of people and many ideas were shared about intercultural understanding. One of the hightlights of the conference was the Student plenary session where 10 students from local schools answered questions on international and intercultural understanding and awareness and its importance to them. 

Interesting presentations encouraged debate and ideas were shared, which enabled many new connections to be made and intercultural understanding to be developed among the participants. It was a very successful conference, finishing with a gala dinner by the edge of the Bosphorus.
